The Ngati Manuhiri Settlement Trust was notified today that we have been successful in our application to oppose the plan change that would have made the proposed landfill an appropriate development.
Ngati Manuhiri invested significantly in this opposition and we are happy and relieved to be successful. We all need to be aware that the battle is not over as the resource consent for the landfill was granted and the Settlement Trust is opposing the consent in the Environment Court. This decision rejecting an application will be extremely helpful in terms of our opposition to become a dumping ground for Auckland.
