At Auckland Transport, our Community Transport Team is passionate about working with communities to make a positive difference to congestion and road safety in Tāmaki Makaurau and we have an opportunity to join our team as a Māori Education Coordinator.

The role

As the Māori Education Coordinator, you will work directly with whānau, hapū, iwi, marae, Kōhanga Reo & Kura Kaupapa Māori to develop, deliver and evaluate a road safety programme focused on reducing the high incidence of Māori road deaths and serious injuries in Tāmaki Makaurau. This role will require you at times to work weekends and after hours to meet community needs. It also require a degree of pastoral care since you will be working with vulnerable communities.

What we look for

We are looking for someone with a holistic approach and deep understanding of Tikanga Māori. You will be a confident communicator in Te Reo and English with experience working with different Māori community groups to achieve positive outcomes. This could be in education, community development, sport and recreation or in an iwi liason role.

We are also looking for an organised person, able to multi-task and time manage to deliver various projects. Experience with event planning and event management would also be desirable.
